M/Y CAVOK
Llaüt Currican 42
CAVOK is a typical motorboat from the Balearic Islands and has been managed by Palma Maritime for several years. With her good stability in the water and twin engines she is ideal for going round the island with up to 4 guests, with one double front cabin, plus sofa bunk beds and a table that converts into another bed. CAVOK has a permenant mooring Puerto Portals making her ideal for day trips with up to 6 guests.
"CAV OK" is an aviation abbreviation which stands for "ceiling and visibility is OK." It is a sign for the clear blue sky which we expect around Mallorca.
The llaüt forms a part of the maritime heritage of the Balearics and up to a few years ago, the llaüt was the traditional boat with which the fishermen of the islands used to go fishing. However, under the current European regulations these boats have to be replaced with others in return for financial compensation. So today it has become a popular leisure boat full of romanticism, but equipped with modern engines. Llaüt builders are called mestres d’aixa and are responsible both for the design and the construction, but very few are left now. The figure of a llaüt cutting through the water still remains one of the most emblematic images of the Balearics.
Last year the hull of CAVOK was re-sprayed blue and comfortable sun cushions were added to the coach roof. This year the batteries have been replaced, decks painted, and both the cockpit cushions and bimini have been replace. Like every year Palma Maritime has also organised antifouling and general maintenance.
CAVOK is available from € 1.600,-- to € 2.750,-- per week.
