Featured Yacht of the Month - April - Isla Ebusita

Isla Ebusitana -1856-Classic Gaff- rigged Schooner
isla_ebusitana_sailing.jpg

Palma Maritime would like to introduce to you not just another charter yacht, but a classic schooner with salty memories of two centuries impregnated in her double hull of pine and oak.  Isla Ebusitana was launched into the water by shipbuilder José Coll in the year 1856 in Palma de Mallorca to carry the salt from San Pedro del Pinatar and Torrevieja to the ports of the Mediterranean. She also transported the stones to build the lighthouse of Formentera.  Later she was owned by a Dutch merchant sailor.

isla_ebusitana_deck2.jpgIsla Ebisitana was then purchased and restore by a Swiss man and at this time she took on the role of tourist life, the schooner became famous in many TV and film productions. After fifteen years of intense navigation, the Swiss owner looked for a follower, preferably Spanish so not to loose this part of the national heritage and, above all, someone with enough sensitivity to conserve and manage this historic sailing yacht.

This is how Antonio Lorente, a Murcian businessman and lover of classic boats became the owner of Isla Ebusitana (Ebusitana being the old name of Ibiza). With her new owner she has been in many international regattas and events and the old lady has been honoured with several trophies for her age, restoration and beauty.  isla_ebusitana_bed.jpg

So now Isla Ebusitana has sailed full circle and is back in the Balearics and available for charter. This coming summer season she is to be based in Palma de Mallorca with the Balearics, Riviera, Corsica and Spanish east- southcoast as areas of navigation.  During the winter season she will be in the Canaries.  She will be available for day charters and weekly charters and takes up to 50 guests on day charter and 12 guests on overnight.  Prices start at € 3.400,-- for day charter and € 12.000,-- for week charter.

The schooner has 4 guest cabins, a cosy salon with stereo, tv, dvd, a table on deck for 12 people and a spacious sun deck. The cabins are large and comfortable for a maximum of 12 people, but in special cases also could perfectly sleep up to 14. The cabins are decorated in the traditional art of a historic sailing boat, with nice bed linen, towels, flowers, pictures of classic yachts and the history of the schooner. salon.jpg

For your personal comfort there is an air conditioning system, a perfect laundry service and a flexible crew will prepare a surprise for a very special occasion to enjoy in the late evenings. During the voyage interested guests can participate in handling the boat, learn the art and history of classic sailing.

The life on Board will be authentic, because there is an international crew of 5, with great professionalism and who love their way of life. You will feel like a member of this team. Something that’s unusual in the maritime charter industry. It is a real schooner for sailors.

For guests interested in discovering the real way of seamanship!
